Account and data deletion

Request deletion of your Stormdrop account

This is the public deletion-request resource for the Stormdrop Weather Lamp mobile app, offered by Stormdrop Lamp LLC. You do not need to sign in to use it.

How to submit a request

  1. Email support@stormdroplamp.com from the email address associated with your Stormdrop account. Use the subject “Delete my Stormdrop account and associated data.”
  2. Include the account email address and identify any lamp names or lamp identifiers that should be included. Do not send a Wi-Fi password, access token, or other credential.
  3. State whether the request should also include a separate Stormdrop launch-list subscription. We may ask for additional information to verify that you control the account or lamp before processing the request.

If you can no longer access the account email address, contact us from another address and explain that in the request. Additional verification may be required before account-linked data is changed.

After we have the information needed to verify your request, we aim to complete it within 30 days. We will email you when processing is complete. If we need more information or time, or must retain limited records, we will email you within that period and explain why.

Start a deletion request

Delete in the app

The current signed pilot app provides a fail-closed Delete Account workflow. After identity reauthentication, it locks the account against recreation, removes account-linked backend ownership and enrollment records plus Firestore settings, scenes, and legacy snapshots, revokes Apple authorization when applicable, then deletes Firebase Authentication last. If availability or cleanup cannot be confirmed, sign-in remains active so deletion can be retried safely.

Older app builds do not contain the complete automated sequence. If in-app deletion is unavailable or fails to complete, the email process above starts a manual, verified deletion request for associated records without requiring sign-in.

Data addressed by a verified request

  • A full account request addresses the Firebase sign-in account and account-linked settings, scenes, legacy weather snapshots, and controlled remote ownership or enrollment records.
  • Identify the lamps that should be included so associated ownership and device records can be located and addressed.
  • Lamp-heartbeat records expire 90 days after a lamp's last heartbeat. The production backend stopped adding new provider-derived weather-history records on August 10, 2026. Existing records remain subject to their existing 30-day expiration and do not include a lamp or account identifier.
  • A completed automated deletion permanently retains a minimal pseudonymous hashed-UID and Firestore lock. For each exactly linked lamp, it also retains a hashed-device heartbeat-suppression record solely to prevent erased data from being recreated. Suppressed lamps keep weather service but not fleet/remote last-seen status until a future possession-authorized recovery path exists.
  • Limited records may be retained when required or permitted for security, fraud prevention, legal, tax, support, or opt-out compliance. We will explain an applicable exception.

Launch-list email is separate

Unsubscribing from launch-list email stops future marketing messages; it does not delete your app account and does not by itself request deletion of all launch-list information. To delete launch-list information without deleting an app account, email support and say “Delete my launch-list information.” A minimal suppression record may remain so an opt-out continues to be honored.

Conversely, deleting an app account does not automatically delete a separately collected launch-list record. Ask us to include it in the same request if you want both addressed.
